Of all the kinds of dog breeds, Saint Bernard is
the most useful of all. First, it is a great rescue dog. Second, it can
be a watchdog at your house. And third, it is a sweet and gentle
playmate for children even in its huge form.
A full-frown Saint Bernard can weigh about 110-200
pounds, and can be up to 27.5 inches tall. The weight must be
proportioned with the height since this kind of breed tends to become
overweight. Saint Bernard is exceptionally loyal to its owners, very
obedient and patient that’s why even children are fond of it.
It is also incredibly intelligent, but should be
trained early to be able to manage it. Saint Bernard dogs are famous for
saving many people during winter storms. More than 2000 people in need
had been saved by this magnificent creature. Their sense of smell is
excellent so they could find a person inches deep in the snow.
There are two kinds of Saint Bernard dogs, namely
short-haired and long-haired. The short-haired kind is the one used for
search and rescue since ice is collected in long-haired. Although Saint
Bernard is a huge dog, it is still prone to sickness, especially to
bloating. Keep in mind to take it to the vet.
