  • Train your dog early. Don’t let bad behavior begin. If you teach your dog sooner what is acceptable and what is not acceptable, will make both you and the dog happier. A puppy even can be taught household manners and basic commands. Enrol right away in your local dog training obedience classes.
  • Reward good or desire behavior. Don’t give attention or treats for bad behavior. Remember your dog wants your attention and approval. If you give only when the dog is behaving good, then the dog will learn appropriate behavior to receive your approval.
  • Dogs are full of energy. Find a way to release this natural energy. Dogs like activities that involve agility like throwing a ball in the air for them to catch. Other ways to keep them active is by taking them for regular walks, runs, play fetch or take to a park where there are other dogs that your dog can interact and run with other dogs. By letting your dog have outlets to burn off energy, will make training a lot easier.
  • Choose a regular time that is convenient for both you and your dog.  The key to successful dog training  is to have regular sessions which will have more impact then sporadic training sessions. Before starting the training session make sure both of you are in good moods and the dog has had sufficient exercise.
  • Handle new puppies a lot to make sure it is tolerable and for becoming a good pet. This dog training tip is crucial in order to handle your puppy frequently and provide both a pleasant experience.
  • Don’t yell at or hit your dog. Your dog should  associate you with pleasant things. Dogs naturally want to please their owner and is best to either ignore them or confine them in a space where they would be alone. Since naturally dogs are social animals it make the punishment very effective as not being with you is difficult for them.
  • Make sure you praise your dog immediately after  a command has been completed.  The desired behavior has to be associated with the positive attention.
  • When ending a command use a word that releases it.  For example, if the dog is in a stay down position and the command is finished, say something  like “release”  which tells the dog  is okay now to get up. It should be uncommon words  because common words like “okay” cause confusion for the dog.
These dog training tips should help you be successful in teaching your dog to be obedient. You will need to find ways that work best for both you and your pet. The most valuable dog training tip is having fun and enjoying your dog.
